An alumnus of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Jeff Morgan is a seasoned structural engineer with 20 years of experience across a wide variety of sectors. Jeff honed his expertise through notable tenures at Ashley Vance Engineering and BWE, working on projects ranging from mixed-use, multifamily, and hospitality to military, education, and healthcare.

Jeff's approach to structural engineering goes beyond technical proficiency; determined to streamline the structural engineering experience for his clients, Jeff has committed to fostering a firm culture centered around superior client communication, clean design documents, and structural innovation, all with the goal of delivering an excellent client experience that contributes to faster project realization.

Chris Cobb, Structural Engineer

Senior Structural Engineer

An honors graduate from UC Irvine and a native Californian, Chris Cobb brings over 15 years of structural engineering and design experience to Morgan Structural. With a recent move to Raleigh, North Carolina, Chris continues to apply his expertise across a wide range of projects throughout the East Coast, demonstrating extensive knowledge of core building materials, including wood, steel, concrete, and masonry. He has played a key role in the completion of more than 25 multifamily projects, ranging from Type III to Type V construction, and has also contributed to various wood-based projects, such as hotels, private developments, affordable housing, townhomes, ADUs, and single-family homes.

Chris is also well-versed in tilt-up construction, steel structures, school and DSA projects, and military design, adding significant versatility to Morgan Structural’s capabilities. Known for his thoughtful approach to problem-solving, Chris thrives on the challenge of addressing questions clients may not know they need to ask.

An alumnus of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Dane Hansen brings a wealth of experience and practical solutions to his role at Morgan Structural. With a background in structural analysis, design, project management, and construction administration, Dane has built a strong reputation for his ability to adapt to project challenges and create effective, real-world solutions. His organizational skills and thorough approach to project management allow him to navigate changes in budgets, schedules, and design objectives with ease, ensuring the smooth progression of every project he undertakes.

Dane’s professional journey includes significant achievements, such as receiving the SEAOSD Engineering in Excellence award for his work on the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in La Jolla, CA. A challenging project filled with unexpected obstacles, it showcased Dane’s ability to deliver results under pressure and his growth as an engineer. This recognition stands as a testament to his dedication and the high level of craftsmanship he brings to every project.

     

John Fischer

Senior Structural Engineer

John Fischer brings over 20 years of structural engineering experience to his role at Morgan Structural.  After completing his engineering degree at Cal Poly, John went on to become a licensed framing contractor and spent some years in the field on construction sites. From a family of builders and developers, John maintains the 'builder's perspective,' with a focus on efficiency and economy. This perspective, coupled with John's creativity and 'can-do' attitude, comes highly valued by colleagues and clients alike.

After moving to Bend, Oregon, John was mentored by some of the best engineers in the industry. This eventually led his office in Bend to be among the most successful, completing some of the largest and most complex building projects Central Oregon has to offer, while never forgetting the constructability lessons from the field.  In this chapter of John's career, he's enjoying working from home and focusing on the projects that serve his community.  Finding a home with the small and elite team at Morgan Structural, John feels that he is doing the best work of his career.

Jenny Morgan

Office Manager - California

An alumna of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Jenny Morgan brings over 15 years of experience in Human Resources, Operations, and Administration to her role at Morgan Structural. With a diverse background supporting employees, managers, and C-suite executives, Jenny is skilled in employee relations, staffing, training, and performance and talent management.

Jenny’s career spans multiple industries, including Life Sciences, Solar, and Defense, where she has developed a deep understanding of organizational dynamics and operational efficiency.

At Morgan Structural, Jenny provides administrative and operations support, focusing on the proposal and contract processes, as well as managing accounts payable and receivable. Her expertise ensures smooth daily operations and contributes to the firm's commitment to delivering exceptional service and results for its clients.

Jenny van der Heyde

Office Manager - North Carolina

A graduate of UC Berkeley, Jenny van der Heyde brings nearly a decade of experience in legislative and policy analysis to her role at Morgan Structural. Her background in policy analysis has given her a keen understanding of the regulatory landscape, particularly in affordable housing development.

Known for the high level of organization she brings to every project, Jenny has built a reputation for tracking complex development timelines and ensuring that critical milestones are met to keep projects moving smoothly. She excels at coordinating between the various stakeholders involved in a project, from internal teams to external partners, serving as a reliable point of connection who keeps everyone aligned and informed. Her thoughtful, detail-oriented approach makes her an invaluable asset to Morgan Structural and its clients alike.
